(Below) This portion of the Confederate Map of the parish of Lafayette found in the State Archives, is remarkably similar to General Land Office Maps
  of the townships.  The detail is simple but precise.  I have campared it below with portions of GLO township maps and an 1861 J. H. Colton Map to
  compare their likenesses. The General Land Office Maps are the authoritative maps used to determine the historical land records.
