| It reads: As Secretary of State, of the State of Louisiana, I hereby Certify that the attached copy of Accession N1981-102; CONFEDERATE PARISH MAPS: 1864 . This collection holds Louisiana Parish maps captured by the Federal forces and include the parishes of Lafayette, Vermilion and St. Martin. These copies are reproductions of the originals which are housed in the National Archives in Washington, D.C. as Record Group # 77 "Civil Works: map file. These copies are taken from the record house here at the Louisiana State Archives, which appears here as a matter of public record. (Below) A copy of the same Certifiacation found by Bertrand at the State Archives in Baton Rouge, LA. Does this indicate that Mr. Campbell did have previous knowledge of the Confederate Map but ignored it in his research? |
